From yesterday to today...
The Italian Village Restaurant first opened in October of 1976 under the management of two brothers,
Antonio and Domenico Mollo. Born in San Giovanni, Italy, they hoped to bring their culture across the pond and pair authentic
Italian fare with an inviting atmosphere. The restaurant boasts an interior of Mediterranean-inspired décor, complemented
by famous Italian opera music. Most of the photographs and posters that adorn the walls have been brought back to the States
from Italy.
Today, the brothers use classic family recipes and imported ingredients to create naturally healthy, flavorful
dishes and mouthwatering desserts. Fresh cheese from Milan and Parma, tomatoes from Roma, Balsamic vinegar from Modena, smooth
olive oil from Lucca -- all these and more serve as the basis of the Italian Village's cuisine. Sauces are made daily on the
premises; desserts -- even their tiramisu and famous chocolate layer cake -- are served fresh, never frozen. Dough is kneaded
and rolled throughout the day, and pizzas and bread are fire-baked in a stone oven.
In true Italian tradition, the
portions are generous but not over-sized. Coupled with every meal is a bottomless basket of moist, fresh bread. The wine list
is all-encompassing (not limited to Italian varieties), so you're sure to find something that pleases your palate. A dinner
at the Italian Village is a genuine Italian pleasure.
